RAW HSBC PHASE I  Completion Certification Presentation Ceremony was held at SK Ampang on 31^st July 2009 participated by  students from SJKT Ladang Chembong and SK Ampang. It was  graciously officiated by , Dato’ Dr. R. Thillainathan (Chairman CHILD).The occasion was graced by HSBC Officials Ms. Lois Kam (Manager Corporate Sustainability) and Ms. Angela Au (Corporate Sustainability Officer), RAW Coordinators, teachers , school officials,  CHILD staff and 200 students.

Events

The commencement of the ceremony was at 2.10 p.m for the RAW HSBC Phase 1 –Completion Certificate Presentation. Student’s and Teacher’s from SK Ampang and SJKT Ldg Chembong were waiting anxiously in the SK Ampang school hall for the ceremony.

The MC’s Ms Sharfizah and Mr Khailril started the ceremony by welcoming all the guests to the certificate presentation ceremony and invited Ustaz Nakam for prayers recital.

Welcome speech was delivered by SK Ampang GPK 1, Pn Maziah bt Harmin.

Pn Maziah bt Harmin’s Speech briefing:-

Pn Maziah welcomed Dato Dr R Thillainathan, HSBC Staffs, CHILD Staffs, Teachers and students from SJKT Ldg Chembong and teachers and students of SK Ampang for participating in the certificate presentation ceremony. She thanked CHILD for choosing SK Ampang as the Venue of the ceremony. Pn Maziah mentioned that RAW program was implemented in SK Ampang in the Year 2006. She was very proud to say that because of the RAW Program, the school has achieved 90% passing rate in English subject for the year 2008. The students showed keen interest in reading the books and enjoying the moral of the stories. She thanked HSBC for their support in sponsoring the Lady Bird books for the students. She requested for support from CHILD and HSBC for their continued support in the implementation of the RAW Program in their school. On behalf of Pn Zabedah, Ex Headmistress of SK Ampang, Pn Maziah informed that Pn Zabedah was very happy and glad about the certificate presentation and she wished CHILD and HSBC to continue their support for Reading and Writing program in SK Ampang School for the benefit of the students. Pn Maziah thanked everyone and ended her speech.

The ceremony continued  with a Speech by Dato Dr R Thillainathan the CHILD Chairman and the Guest of Honour of the ceremony.

Dato Dr R Thillainathan Speech Briefing:-

Dato DR R Thillainathan on behalf of CHILD, welcomed everyone for participating in the ceremony. He specially thanked HSBC for their support in making the RAW Program successful. He also thanked the Ex Headmistress, Pn Zabedah for her support during the implementation of the program in the Year 2006- 2008.

Using a slide presentation, Dato explained about the introduction of RAW program, Aim & Objectives, Mission, Vision, Evaluation and implementation of the program. Dato emphasized on the number of participating states, schools and students under RAW HSBC and RAW CHILD Program.

At last Dato congratulated all the participating students for their achievement and thanked the school and CHILD for organizing the event. Subsequently, Dato Dr R Thillainathan officiated over the ceremony.

The ceremony continued with 10 minutes slide presentation on the implementation of RAW program in Segamat Johor. The audience were impressed by the presentation.

Students Performance took place once after the slide show presentation is over.  A total of 27 students from SK Ampang participated in the performance. 7 of them were Year 3 students, who acted out the story from LADY BIRD StoryBook Series “The Ginger Breadman” with full of enthusiasm. Another 20 Year 1 student- sang a song.It was a simple and beautiful performance organized by Ms Wengka.

The certificate presentation to the students was done by the honourable Guest Dato Dr Thillainathan. Subsequently Ms Lois Kam from HSBC and Pn Maziah, GPK 1 of SK Ampang presented the certificates together with a story book, sponsored by CHILD to encourage the students to do more reading. Total number of 150 students received the certificates.

As a token of appreciation, Dato Dr R Thillainathan on behalf of CHILD gave away souvenirs to Pn Maziah (GPK 1 of SK Ampang), Pn Jamaliah (Penyelia Petang) and Ms Lois Kam ( Manager Corporate Sustainability,HSBC). On behalf of SK Ampang, fruit baskets were given to Dato Dr R Thillainathan and Ms Lois Kam from HSBC.

After a high tea, the ceremony ended around 3.20 p.m
